The Swing
Stand with your back straight, the rope behind your legs, arms held straight in front of you. In one fluid movement swing your arms out to your side and rotate your arms and wrists. Swing (don’t throw) the rope over your head then hop to clear the rope. At all times you should land on the balls of your feet. This move is accomplished with as little effort as possible. Avoid throwing your arms in front of you or swinging them in a wide arc. Let your wrists do the work and take it slowly. One trick to slow down is to hop twice in the course of one rotation of the rope. When the rope is above your head hop once. As the rope swings beneath your feet hop again, landing on both feet. Use as little effort as possible rotating your arms in an increasingly smaller arc. Note: The Swingmaster™ was designed with a proportionately longer rope to allow for a greater range of motion. The swing feels different; your arms are held higher and it may take some time to get used to. As you jump, the rope should lightly brush against the ground beneath your feet. If the rope is hitting too far in front of you, either the rope is too long or you are not holding it high enough. In many of the moves listed below you swing the rope not with your wrists as with a traditional jump rope but with your arms, shoulders, and some cases, your whole body.
